Offering Twice the Fun - aFoot and aBike
A minor/Training Foot-O event & MTBO SS5 - KILLINGWORTH
Venue: From the Glendale Crossroads head west for 3.2 km. Turn left at the top of the rise (toward Barnsley, 2.5 km). At Barnsley, turn left in Wakefield Rd. After 0.8 km turn right for Killingworth.
Alternatively, you can travel west from Fassifern or north from Ryhope, making a left turn for Killingworth just before the straight leading in to Barnsley.
Either way, follow this road (“The Broadway”) for 2.5 km to its intersection with “The Boulevarde” - turn right, heading north toward West Wallsend. About 500 m along this road, a track turns off to the left. About 80 m along this track a smaller track heads north along the oil and gas pipeline. The assembly will be about 100 m along this smaller track. Some parking will be possible here (if we can clear the rubbish away), but most parking will be along the Killingworth- West Wallsend Road. Keep as far left as possible, and do not block access to any of the electricity facilities.

Sunday 21 September
MORISSET
Venue: From Toronto travel through Dora Creek toward Morisset. At a major road junction just before Morisset proper, turn east (left) into Fishery Point Road which takes you onto the Morisset Peninsular. OR: Take the Morisset exit from the F3, and travel through Morisset. 600 m after crossing the railway line, turn east (right) into Fishery Point Road. Follow Fishery Point Road for about 1.9 km. At this point (opposite the telecommunications tower, and just before Bonnells Bay Public School) the road turns left. DO NOT TURN. Continue straight ahead along what is now called Morisset Park Road for about 1.8 km. Look for the Orienteering banner on the right hand side of the road. Some parking will be along a road heading north from this point, but most parking will be angled in (90°?) on the south side of Morisset Park Rd, and east of the banner. The best idea is to go past the parking area until it is safe to turn around, then approach the parking from the east (i.e. on the left hand side of the road).

FREEMAN’S WATERHOLE
Try a Score Course with an Extra Challenge
Venue: From Toronto travel west to Freeman’s Waterhole. OR From the north, take the Toronto exit from the F3 then turn right and travel along Palmers Rd to Freeman’s Waterhole. At the roundabout at Freeman’s Waterhole turn left and travel south for 2.7 km. Turn right into Beck’s Road. Follow O-signs to start. OR: Coming north from Cooranbong along Freemans Drive, the turnoff (to the left!) is about 500 m past the Freemans Waterhole/Cessnock exit from the F3.
Map: Jigadee Jog 1:10,000
Courses: Blue - 1.8 km Green - 2.5 km These are normal blue & green ‘point to point’ courses For those who normally run Orange or Red, there will be a 1 hour Score Course.
The 1 hour time limit will make it an interesting challenge for regular Red runners to locate all controls. If you don’t normally run Red, there are two aspects of the course that should appeal: first, you will score well just by finding Orange markers (some may even be easier than Orange, depending on your route choice); second, the course setter wants to encourage you to have a go at some of the harder controls. [e.g. a Red control could be located along a logical route between two easier controls - have a go at it!]
Entries: Enter on the day, at a time to suit you, 9.30 - 11.30am.
Closure: Courses close at 1.00pm

Sunday 19 October
NOY 8 – RYHOPE RIDGE
Venue: Take the Toronto exit from the F3 and travel east toward Toronto for about 1.9 km. Turn north (left) from the road onto a track which can be followed for 550m to park in a disused quarry OR: Head west from Toronto toward Freeman’s Waterhole. About 2 km after crossing the main railway line at Awaba, turn north (right) onto the track and proceed as above.
Notes: 1. If the weather makes the track unsuitable for driving, parking will be under a powerline on the southern side of the road, opposite the entrance to the track - with a 600 m walk to assembly.
2. Children should be reminded that steep gravel slopes and old rubbish (including asbestos) around the quarry are not suitable play areas.
3. There may be a 250 m walk from the assembly area to the start.
Map: Ryhope Ridge 1:10,000
Courses: Standard NOY courses: Blue, Green, Easy and Long Orange, Short, Medium and Long Red
